And soon, maybe a little sister.

Week 20: The Envelope, Please
Another go at trying to conquer the pillar of Believer magazines threatening to crush me in my sleep. These envelopes were made (out of the June 2008 issue - "Tmesis") two Sundays ago, in the company of some lovely frengs during what may prove to be a fairly regular "craft night." As I become increasingly sensitive (ashamed?) about the amount of stuff I put into the world (an issue for many makers, it seems) this is my (pretty lame-ass) attempt at redeeming some waste. Being a sucker for packaging makes this particularly hard, as my first inclination was to spend a small fortune on gorgeous Paper Place paper to make them. Baby steps, people, baby steps. These will be used for a new little crafty endeavour, The Love Below, which (if all goes according to plan) I'll be posting about later this week.

Meet Henry

Henry is my first bear of Oh Nine. I hope there will be many more like him running around Knittah HQ this year. Henry likes hanging around the bookstore, turtleneck sweaters, the sound of trains, hot chocolate, graph paper, sugar snap peas, wandering around, and birthday cake.

Week 19: The 3 1/2 Hour Hat
I can officially knit hats. Tired of my very cute but very useless $12 H&M hat (that has to be worn with huge ass headphones if it is to stay on my head) I finally made my very own hat that fits! It only took one evening to complete (thanks to Lamb's Pride Extra Bulky and circular needles), and it's a lovely mung-bean-green. Now I gots the warmest ears on the block, and I can decrease like a mofo.

Hello, 2009.
A new year, a new bear. This one's made of linen. His head is the size of a weensy Clementine orange. This week, he'll get an orange alpaca sweater and some pants.

I don't generally have much use for Valentine's Day, except for the fact that the excessive use of glitter and paper doilies is immediately permissable. And, making this little gift tag was way more fun than the Very Important Thing I was supposed to do tonight. Sigh.
