This is something I've been meaning to do for a long time. Ever since I got a hold of designer Michael Perry's two books - Hand Job: A Catalog of Type and Over and Over: A Catalog of Hand-Drawn Patterns - I've fallen in love with hand-lettering and obsessively filling in entire pages of my Moleskine sketchbook with words and doodles. This is an illustration of Eazy-E (based on a stencil I drew and cut out earlier this year), filled in with hand-written lyrics to Boyz in da Hood. Thank goodness for .02 Pigma Micron archival ink pens.

Eazy does it.

Wandering Home
So, the Kids Trunk Show was a success - my little crocheted orphans were lovingly adopted by both friends and strangers - and I'd like to thank everyone who came out to give 'em a squeeze. My favourite visitor was a very small girl who promised her mum that she'd give up treats for a whole week so she could have a panda. I hope they're spending some lovely summer days together. Now, on to the next thing!

I Got 99 Problems But a Bear Ain't One.
One of a kind, lovingly crocheted teddy bears on display at:

I did it!
On Acorns and Dollar Store Freakouts.
So I decided to take a bear-making break and mosey on over to my local Dollar Store because I need paper doilies to nice-up my trunk for tomorrow's Kids Trunk Show (yeah, you heard me. Doilies. Gotta problem?) They already had their Fall decorations out so of course I had to check 'em out, and that's when I saw them. The cutest freaking acorns. Ever. I practically lost it. Taking a deep breath, I proceeded to fill my little plastic basket with every acorn-studded branch in the store. Sixteen dollars and ninety-five cents later, I'm one happy crafter:
This is my second acorn encounter this week. My first was yesterday - I was at work, just quietly doing my thang, and I found this little guy on the counter. Surely some guardian squirrel's got my back, yo.

Bear-a-thon: The Home Stretch
Well, this is it. Just gotta stitch these suckers up and I think I'm all ready for tomorrow. Except I still have to make some cute shopping bags, and a sign, and some itty bitty bears would be nice, too...

Bear-a-thon: Day 25
This eensy-weensy panda head is about the size of a golf ball! Only a couple days left to go and I've got to finish four more bears (for a total of ten), and hopefully make a couple wee ones, too. You know, I don't think I'm gonna be able to part with these little buggers. They're made with so much love, it would just break your heart if you knew.

Neighbourhood Watch: Woo-hah!
So, the aforementioned thunder clap (see below) that sent my heart sailing out of my throat last night wasn't a weather system after all, but the freaking propane factory explosion at Keele and Wilson - which is, like, crazy far from my house. Ka-boom, indeed.
Bear-a-thon: Day 22, kind of...
This is how my dining table looks this morning. Apparently, I was up until 4 a.m. making this mess. It doesn't look like I finished any bears, but there are at least three "in production." Probably would've kept going, but when a clap of thunder almost sent me through the roof (somehow, I thought someone was breaking in!), I decided I should call it a day. The casualties of last night's bear blitz? Just a bleary-eyed Knittah (or, more accurately, Hookah) and this poor little bastard:

Bear-a-thon: Day 20 - Free Bear Giveaway!
In just nine days, gotta crochet eight more.
Now add that number up with the one I said before,
You are now looking at one tired-ass Knittah.
Anyone (besides The Ostrich) who can tell me which song I've just adapted here as the official Bear-a-thon anthem gets a free bear at the Kids Trunk Show - if I make it that far.

A very productive morning indeed, three heads complete! How am I spending the rest of my Sunday afternoon? Bear bellies!
